Pediatrix Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, per diem BC pediatrician to join a new practice as a pediatric hospitalist At Meritus Medical Center in Hagarstown (MD):
- Meritus Medical Center is a regional Level 1 Trauma center with a small Pediatric Department consisting of 12 beds
- Patients on the Peds floor are admitted directly from the offices or through ER. These admissions are generally RSV Bronchiolitis, Asthma Exacerbation, Respiratory distress, R/O Sepsis, Pneumonia, Pyelonephritis, and Gastroenteritis with Dehydration, abscess and cellulitis. The pediatricians may manage surgical patients with the help of the General Surgeon.
- Meritus Medical Center has a busy LDRP unit which deals with 800-1000 deliveries per year. As a peds hospitalist covering the LDRP, you can expect to deal with minor issues like neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia, feeding problems, and Neonatal Withdrawal syndrome etc. Babies who need more acute care are admitted to Level II Nursery
- Meritus Hospital has Level II Nursery where the babies are admitted who have problems like TTN, RDS, Sepsis etc. are admitted. Unit consists of a team of Pediatrix Neonatologists who are present round the clock
